Andreas Johard is a Partner and Co-Head of Hammarskiöld’s Dispute Resolution practice. He focuses on international arbitration and complex cross-border commercial disputes, advising Swedish and international clients, including sovereign states, in high-stakes proceedings.

Andreas regularly acts as counsel in domestic and international arbitration proceedings under the SCC, ICC and other institutional rules, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations, in matters seated in Sweden and abroad. He also represents clients in commercial litigation before Swedish courts, including the Supreme Court, where court proceedings form part of a broader dispute strategy, including interim relief, challenges to arbitral awards and enforcement-related matters.

In addition to his work as counsel, Andreas is appointed as arbitrator in commercial disputes. He also works closely with general counsel, senior management and boards as a strategic advisor in sensitive disputes, assisting with early risk assessment, forum selection and overall dispute strategy, often before a formal proceeding has been initiated.

A significant part of Andreas’ practice involves disputes arising from technology-driven and AI-enabled business models, where contractual frameworks, regulatory exposure, data and commercial risk intersect once a dispute materialises.
Before focusing exclusively on dispute resolution, Andreas worked with M&A and Capital Markets transactions, which gives him a strong understanding of the commercial, financial and governance context in which complex disputes arise. He is a regular contributor to legal publications and frequently invited to speak in academic and professional forums on arbitration and dispute resolution.

Andreas is consistently recognised in leading legal directories. He has been awarded Client Choice (Arbitration) by Lexology Index / Who’s Who Legal in 2024 and 2025, is recommended in Legal 500, and is also recommended in the inaugural Lexology Index: Artificial Intelligence.

Andreas is a strategic thinker and has the courage to advise clients not only on what should be done, but also on what is not worthwhile.
