Hammarskiöld has acted as acted legal adviser to Swedish truck manufacturer Scania in its participation in the approx. 600 million USD additional equity round for financing of Swedish lithium-ion battery manufacturer Northvolt. Other investors include Baillie Gifford, Baron Capital Group, Bridford Investments as well as VW and Goldman Sachs. The raised funds will facilitate additional investments in increased production capacity, R&D and recycling at Northvolt’s production plants in Skellefteå Sweden. Production start is planned for 2021 for the Skellefteå plant.
The Hammarskiöld team has also advised Scania in the negotiation and execution of agreements relating to Northvolt’s USD 1.6 billion debt financing executed in July 2020.
